NATURAL MICROSYSTEMS CONTINUES INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION, ANNOUNCES
INCORPORATION OF BELGIUM SUBSIDIARY, OPERATIONS AGREEMENT WITH ATEA
ANTWERP, Belgium, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Natural MicroSystems Corporation announced today the establishment of Natural MicroSystems N.V. (NMS N.V.) in Antwerp. Concurrently, NMS N.V. and ATEA N.V. announced a management services agreement under which ATEA will provide management services, warehousing, repair, and technical support services for Natural MicroSystems' complete line of voice/call processing and telephone switching products. ATEA, a subsidiary of Siemens, is based in Herentals, Belgium, and operates in over 60 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and America providing design, production, installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems and networks. The NMS Antwerp office has been established as the European headquarters for Natural MicroSystems.
"Our rapidly expanding international business necessitated the establishment of an office in Europe. Belgium provided a perfect base because of its central location relative to the rest of Europe and Belgium's aggressively open business environment. Our strategic relationships with ATEA provide us with a strong partner and maximum leverage in serving our distributors and customers in the European community," remarks Charles Foskett, chairman of Natural MicroSystems.
"The creation of this subsidiary emphasizes Natural MicroSystems' commitment to the European marketplace," continues David Levi, president of Natural MicroSystems. "The establishment of NMS N.V. coupled with the ATEA agreement is typical of our unfolding international strategy of providing services and products for customers around the world. Our existing relationship with NTT in Japan is another example of Natural MicroSystems supporting our American and international business partners through worldwide product offerings and support."
Eugeen Bogaerts of ATEA added, "The ATEA-NMS agreement is part of ATEA's long-range plans to establish strong ties with fast-growing, leading edge U.S. technology companies, especially in the communications area."
Natural MicroSystems plans to continue European expansion by establishing more distributors throughout Europe. Agreements have been signed with Advanced Systems Architectures, a company with offices in London, with Alton in the United Kingdom, and with E.P.T.A. in Italy. The British Approval Board for Telecommunications (BABT) has approved NMS' manufacturing site in Natick, Mass.
Additionally, Natural MicroSystems actively markets to OEMs, VARs, and Systems Integrators in Scandinavia. In Japan, Nippon Telephone and Telegraph (NTT) is Natural MicroSystems' exclusive distributor. Company Background
