NATURAL GAS VEHICLE TEST DRIVE SET FOR THURSDAY AT PONTIAC SILVERDOME
Fleet vehicle operators from around the state are expected to attend "Drive It To Believe It," an event co-sponsored by GMC Truck and the American Gas Association, this Thursday, July 9, at the Pontiac Silverdome.
A quarter-mile oval test track in the parking lot of the Silverdome will allow fleet vehicle operators and media representatives to drive and learn more

about natural gas vehicles (NGVs) from 1-4:30 p.m. Workshops on sales and service and fueling compressors will also be held.
Natural gas vehicles are more environmentally friendly than gasoline- and diesel-fueled vehicles. Because natural gas burns more cleanly than other fuels, it is an attractive alternative that meets the mandated federal Clean Air Act emission standards.
Consumers Power Company is a co-host of the event along with other natural gas utilities. The company's Metro Region meter readers are already using NGVs on a daily basis, and the vehicles are also being used in demonstrations with customer and fleet operators.
The three-quarter-ton GMC Sierra pickup trucks were built at the General Motors North American Truck Platforms plant in Pontiac. GMC Truck is the first original equipment manufacturer to produce a dedicated natural gas truck.
Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving almost 6 million of the state's 9 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
