NATIONSBANK TO HOLD CELEBRATION FOR OPENING OF SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

 NATIONSBANK TO HOLD CELEBRATION
FOR OPENING OF SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES
ATLANTA, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank, the official bank sponsor of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team, today will celebrate the opening of the Summer Olympic Games with a Barcelona Bound! party in all of its 1,800 bank offices across the Southeast and Texas.
All of the NationsBank offices, decked in red, white and blue, will offer refreshments to customers and many offices will give customers a chance to sign Good Luck cards that will be sent to the U.S. Olympic Team in Barcelona. It is expected that thousands of signatures will be sent to the Olympians.
"As a first-time sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Team, NationsBank has a special sense of pride in our athletes," said Bill VanLandingham, president of NationsBank/Georgia. "We can't think of a better way to support our country than to have this association with the U.S. Olympic Team."
To help celebrate the company's sponsorship of the team, each of the 55,000 NationsBank employees has received a pin with the NationsBank logo and the USA Olympic rings symbol to wear. The company also will send an employee and his spouse to Barcelona for one week to attend the Olympic Games. The employee won the trip as part of a company-wide contest for all NationsBank employees.
NationsBank is also a corporate sponsor of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. The sponsorship of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team means NationsBank will sponsor the next three U.S. Olympic Teams. The company's agreement with the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games ensures that NationsBank will be the only commercial bank sponsor of the U.S. team at the Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway, in 1994, and at the Summer Games in Atlanta in 1996.
NationsBank is the fourth-largest bank holding company in the United States with $111 billion in assets and more than 1,800 banking offices in nine states and the District of Columbia.
