NATIONSBANK OF N.C. AND STEPHENS, INC. ANNOUNCE INTRODUCTION OF NATIONS GOVERNMENT INCOME TERM TRUST 2003

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank of North Carolina and Stephens, Inc. today announced the introduction of the first bank proprietary closed-end mutual fund, Nations Government Income Term Trust 2003.
 "The introduction of this fund is one more measure of our commitment to move aggressively in the mutual fund industry. NationsBank has taken a leadership position in providing investment management for products that meet the needs of today's investor," said James Sommers, president of NationsBank Trust.
 The fund is the newest addition to the Nations Family of investment products, which includes Nations Fund, an open-ended mutual fund family with 38 portfolios and more than $11 billion in assets. Nations Fund is part of NationsBank Trust.
 In its offering period, Nations Government Income Term Trust 2003 was sold primarily through NationsSecurities, the new brokerage firm created by a joint venture of subsidiaries of NationsBank and Dean Witter Discover & Co. The fund has $167 million in assets.

 Vince Walls, president of NationsSecurities, added, "We're excited to be working with Nations Fund in the development of innovative products for today's market."
 The fund, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol NGI, is designed to offer investors stability of principal and high monthly income. The fund is expected to terminate at, or shortly before, the end of the year 2003. At that time, it will seek to return to investors at least their initial investment of $10 per share.
 Nations Government Income Term Trust 2003 invests in U.S. government or AAA-- rated debt securities and is actively managed to respond to changing market conditions.
