NATIONSBANK FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR HAS PROVIDED MORE CAPITAL TO THE ENERGY INDUSTRY THAN ANY OTHER BANK IN THE WORLD, REPORT SHOWS

DALLAS, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive year, NationsBank (NYSE: NB) has provided more capital to the energy industry than any bank in the world, according to information published in the latest issue of Petroleum Economist, an international energy journal.
NationsBank ranked first in the number of financings (152), as well as the total dollar amount extended to the industry ($4.1 billion) in 1992 -- representing an increase of more than 50 percent from 1991 in both categories. The bank was also first in the number of energy financings agented or arranged (89).
"The report indicates that more energy companies are using NationsBank for arranging and providing financing than any other bank," said Sam Atkins, group executive vice president of the NationsBank Energy Group. "The industry continues to demonstrate its confidence in our ability to arrange and lead major transactions. It is a direct reflection of our efforts to understand each client's financial and operating strategies, and use this understanding to develop value-added solutions for our customers. Energy companies understand that we have the expertise, size and financial strength to assist them, and that we are willing to put our balance sheet to work for them."
Headquartered in Texas, the NationsBank Energy Group has provided financial services for more than 60 years. The bank maintains one of the largest in-house groups of petroleum engineers and energy lenders in the industry. NationsBank energy offices are in Dallas, Houston and Midland as well as Denver and London.
NationsBank Corporation is the fourth-largest banking company in the United States with $118 billion in assets and full-service offices in nine states and the District of Columbia.
