NATIONSBANK EXPANDS HOME-BASED SCREENPHONE BANKING SERVICE THROUGHOUT MID-ATLANTIC BANKING REGION

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank Corporation (NYSE: NB) today announced it will expand its home-based ScreenPhone banking service to all its customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic banking region. Beginning in 1994, NationsBank will market the Online Home Banking service to more than one million households in Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.
The Online Home Banking service includes a ScreenPhone, which functions as a conventional telephone and a "bank in your home." The service enables customers to pay bills, transfer funds between accounts, view interim account statements, check account balances and perform numerous other banking transactions. The Online Home Banking service was developed by Online Resources & Communications Corporation of McLean, VA.
"We are listening to the changing needs of the marketplace and looking for ways to make banking more convenient for our customers," said Chuck Hieronymi, Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing and Delivery Planning.
"The Online service is another way we can save our customers time and make their lives easier by giving them 24-hour access to their NationsBank relationship--as well as enhanced services such as check- free bill paying--all from the comfort of their home," said Hieronymi. "We will also explore additional features such as enhanced telephone services, stock quotes and home shopping as they become available."
The NationsBank Online Home Banking service is an expansion of the home banking product MNC Financial Inc. had offered since May 1992. "This service continues to be available today to our Maryland National and American Security customers, and unlike other ScreenPhone products now being tested, it has been in operation for close to two years," said Cynthia Montgomery, Vice President and Manager of Program Development. "While we are in the early stages of this offering, we are encouraged that the service has already attracted a great deal of interest in the
Maryland/D.C. market." NationsBank acquired MNC Financial and its subsidiaries Maryland National and American Security Banks in October 1993.
NationsBank currently offers this service to Maryland National and American Security Bank customers at a $79.95 purchase price for the telephone plus a flat monthly fee of $6.95 that covers unlimited transactions. There are no additional telephone charges to customers for using the service.
