NATIONSBANK ASSUMES DEPOSITS AND CERTAIN ASSETS OF FIRST FEDERAL SAVINGS BANK OF GEORGIA, F.A., WATKINSVILLE BRANCH

 ATLANTA, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank (NYSE: NB) today announced that it has assumed all the deposits and certain assets of the Watkinsville branch of First Federal Savings Bank of Georgia, F.A., allowing it to enter the rapidly growing Oconee County market.
 The deposits and assets have been assumed from the Resolution Trust Corporation, as receiver for First Federal Savings Bank of Georgia, F.A.
 "We are excited to be entering one of the fastest-growing counties in the state," said Dunbar Harrison, Georgia community bank executive for NationsBank. "Oconee County is a highly desirable market and one we have been eager to enter as the Athens area continues to expand in that direction."
 NationsBank gained possession of all the deposits and certain assets of the Watkinsville office at the close of business on Friday. Although the office will not offer banking services on Saturday, Nov. 6, NationsBank employees will be available to answer any questions. All the necessary conversions will take place over the weekend and the office will open at 9 a.m. Monday as a full-service NationsBank banking center.
 Banking hours at the Watkinsville office will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The drive-in will open at 8:30 a.m. weekdays.
 According to Pat Allen, senior banking executive of NationsBank of Northeast Georgia, customers who have accounts at the Watkinsville office will be able to do their banking at any of the NationsBank offices in Athens beginning Saturday.
 "We are proud to be able to bring the products and services of a major financial institution to Oconee County," said Allen. "In addition, we can now provide better service to NationsBank customers who live in that area."
 First Federal Savings Bank of Georgia, F.A. account holders will receive a letter from NationsBank within the next several days explaining conversion of their accounts.
 NationsBank is the largest financial institution in Georgia, and has five full-service offices in the Athens area.
