NATIONAL TIRE SERVICES ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS AND REVERSE STOCK SPLIT

 MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- National Tire Services, Inc. announced today the appointment of James L. Davis, its vice president and director, to chairman of the board. Terry C. Miller, the company's chief executive officer, has assumed additional responsibilities as president. Bruce H. Elliasen, the company's vice president will assume additional responsibilities as secretary and treasurer. The company also announced that Trygve Bakkom has been elected to the board of directors to fill a vacancy. Bakkom is the chief executive officer and president of Scrap Tire Systems, Inc. and American Tire Products, Inc., Illinois-based tire abatement companies. From 1972 to 1991, Bakkom served in various management capacities with Waste Management, Inc. Miller, in announcing these changes commented: "We are fortunate and very excited to add Mr. Bakkom to our board of directors. His experience in the waste tire industry is very valuable and will provide us with additional depth as we continue our growth."
 The company has also entered into a 30-month contract with the Big Stone, S.D. Utility Plant operated by Otter Tail Power which provides for the sale to Big Stone of 125,000 tons of shredded tire chips.
 The company also announced that its shareholders have approved a 2.5-for-1 reverse stock split on its common stock effective Dec. 21, 1992.
 The company has filed a post-effective amendment to its registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission reflecting the reverse stock split and the management appointments. Although the company has effected the reverse stock split, the sale of up to 1,200,000 shares of its common stock in the public offering remain priced at $3.50 per share. After giving effect to the reverse stock split, the company has 1,581,280 shares of common stock outstanding prior to the offering and will have 2,431,280 shares if the minimum number of shares are sold and 2,781,280 if the maximum number of shares are sold.
 Minneapolis-based National Tire Services is an environmental services company engaged in the development, management and operation of mobile and fixed-site, waste tire shredding and baling facilities. The company currently has operations in Brooklyn Park, Minn. and Milbank, S.D.
