NATIONAL TALK SHOW GUEST REGISTRY WANTS YOUR 'UNTOLD STORY'

RESEDA, Calif., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- If "talk show fever" courses through your veins and visions of Oprah, Phil and Sally bidding for your exclusive interview dance in your head, "The National Talk Show Guest Registry" wants to hear from you.
"The National Talk Show Guest Registry" is the brainchild of Christopher Darryn, founder and president of The Research Department -- a company that has specialized in locating "civilian guests" for talk shows since 1986. Because each new television season brings an increased demand for new guests and discussion topics, Darryn decided that a national guest database could give more people a chance to share what they knew. But like any serious shot at stardom, this one also carries a price tag -- $3 a month for each month you want the company to refer interested talk shows to you.
"That few dollars helps weed out those people who aren't serious about being a talk show guest," explains Darryn. "It keeps the show's `bookers' from wasting time trying to reach people who only wanted to see if a `real tv show' would actually call them."
But why pay even $3 to tell millions of strangers about a life of failures, fetishes or phobias?
"For some guests, it's therapeutic. They want to get something `off their chest,'" says Darryn. "Other people just want to be on tv. Almost all are attracted to the guest fees, free travel, free publicity or a chance to rub elbows with celebrities. But the real `pot of gold' is if two national shows get into a `bidding battle' for exclusive rights to your interview -- then you can almost write your own ticket."
If you believe that "one person's misery can be another person's inspiration" and feel ready to share your experiences, send The Research Department a brief letter describing your story and include a phone number, address and $3 for each month you wish to keep your guest entry active. The Research Department will then provide interested shows with your guest information. Talk shows contact guests directly for more details or to discuss "booking" arrangements.
