NATIONAL MEDIA CORPORATION REPORTS NET INCOME OF $3.1 MILLION FOR THE THIRD QUARTER ENDED DEC. 31, 1992

 PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- National Media Corporation (NYSE: NM) today reported net income for its third fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992, of $3.1 million, or $.24 per share, vs. a loss of $4.1 million, or $.37 per share in the prior year's quarter.
 Net revenues for the quarter reached $36.1 million, an increase of 32 percent from last year.
 For the nine months, net income was $6.3 million, or $.49 per share, vs. a loss of $5.9 million, or $.53 per share in the first nine months of the prior year. Last year's nine-month results included an after-tax gain of $2.2 million on the sale of the company's then wholly owned subsidiary, National Syndications, Inc. Net revenues for the first nine months of the current fiscal year were $109.7 million, up 65 percent from last year.
 John J. Turchi Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of National Media, said, "We are extremely pleased with this quarter's solid performance in all areas of the company's business. National Media is continuing to effectively execute its strategy of worldwide expansion, and we are particularly pleased with the growth in revenues of our international operations. At the same time, our domestic business continues to turn in strong results, reflecting our ongoing commitment to new product development. In fact, our pipeline of new products scheduled for introduction over the next few quarters is triple the level of a year ago."
 The company noted that during the third quarter it aired long form programming for more than 35 different products in the United States and Europe.
 National Media Corporation is the worldwide leader in direct response television marketing, doing business in the United States and Canada through its Media Arts International subsidiary and in 19 countries outside North America through its Quantum International Ltd. unit.
