NATIONAL HOME CENTERS, INC. ANNOUNCES INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING

 SPRINGDALE, Ark., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- National Home Centers, Inc. today announced the successful completion of its initial public offering of 1,980,000 shares at the price of $10 per share. The shares will trade on the NASDAQ
National Market System under the trading symbol "NHCI". A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. is the sole manager of the offering.
 Dwain A. Newman, chairman, president and chief executive officer, stated, "The success of this offering is a testament to the strength of our company, our Arkansas customer base, and our positive growth pattern over the past several years."
 National Home Centers, Inc. is a full-line retailer of home improvement products and building materials. The company believes it is unique in its ability to serve both retail consumers and professional contractors by operating large home center superstores in tandem with complete building supply operations. NHC is Arkansas' largest retailer of home improvement products and building materials.
 NHC's business strategy capitalizes on the overlap between retail and professional contractor sales by providing a broad product assortment and a full range of services in each of its markets, either at a single location or through an integrated network of stores. The company started its building supply operations in 1972 and opened its first store in 1977. Today, the company operates seven stores, all in Arkansas, and plans to open six new stores in Arkansas within the next two years.
 The company's net sales for the fiscal year 1992 were $88.0 million. Operating results for the first quarter of fiscal 1993 include net sales of $26.8 million, operating income of $1,541,000 and net earnings of $786,000, or $0.15 per share, compared with net sales of $20.9 million, operating income of $1,324,000, and net earnings of $670,000, or $0.12 per share, for the corresponding period in fiscal 1992.
