NATIONAL DATACOMPUTER, INC. REPORTS SMALL PROFIT FOR SECOND QUARTER
BILLERICA, Mass., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Gerald S. Eilberg, chief financial officer of National Datacomputer, Inc. (NASDAQ: NDTA) (NDIC) today announced the results of its second quarter ended June 30, 1992.
Eilberg reported that revenues for the quarter were $919,892 with a net profit of $3,146. This compares with revenues of $985,300 and a net profit of $63,389 for the same period in 1991.
The six month figures were $1,649,314 in revenues and a net loss of $158,230 and compares to $1,877,506 in revenues and a net profit of $67,685 in 1991.
Backlog at June 30, 1992 was $781,000 which is about three times what it was at the same date in 1991.
"While we are currently in this development stage, our goal, simply stated, is to better the performance of the previous quarter," Eilberg said. "For example, the second quarter just completed showed an increase over the first quarter of 26 percent in revenues and a small net profit as compared to a net loss of over $160,000. We feel that, right now, this is a more meaningful way to gauge our progress than in comparison with a year ago, since we have introduced new products to new marketplaces in 1992. If we can maintain the 'beat the previous quarter' objective, the direction of the company will be one of continuing profits."
Norman Mackinnon, president of NDIC commented that "my statement last May predicting the upward trend for NDI was holding true with the second quarter results. I am also pleased to announce an agreement with a very successful Japanese company that will not only be purchasing Datacomputers for their own use, but will also be representing our product in Japan as a reseller."
National Datacomputer, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets and services rugged, programmable handheld computers, data collection devices and peripherals. NDIC is also a leading developer of software solutions, such as its Route Service System, for people who need the power of a PC in the field rather that at their desk. The company's shares are traded over-the-counter.
