NATIONAL DATA ADDS 18TH MEDICAID PROGRAM TO CLAIMS PROCESSING NETWORK

ATLANTA, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- National Data Corporation (NYSE: NDC) has announced an agreement with the Utah Department of Health to provide real-time claims processing services for the Utah Medicaid program.
The non-exclusive agreement has an initial term of three years.
NDC will accept electronic claims from pharmacies participating in Utah Medicaid and send them to the Department of Health's computer system in Salt Lake City, returning the real-time response to the submitting pharmacy. NDC is already the largest real-time claims processor in the U.S., processing 250 million healthcare transactions during the last fiscal year.
With the addition of the Utah Medicaid program to NDC's electronic network, 18 Medicaid programs are linked to NDC for real-time claims processing or eligibility verification.
"In October, NDC processed more than 5 million Medicaid transactions, double our January volume," said Richard S. Cohan, senior vice president of healthcare. "With additional Medicaid programs poised to begin electronic claims processing, I expect continued rapid growth in this segment of our healthcare business."
