NATIONAL COALITION ON VIOLENCE TAKES SCHWARZENEGGER/NASA ROCKET PROTEST INTO THE COURTS WITH LAWSUIT AGAINST COLUMBIA PICS

LOS ANGELES, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "Off our rockets and into the courts." That's what Dr. Carole Lieberman, chairperson of the National Coalition On Television Violence (NCTV) says will be the rallying cry today (May 13) at 12:30 p.m. PDT as NCTV continues in its effort to take a Schwarzenegger movie ad off the side of a NASA rocket. Says Lieberman, "We will be in front of Sony's Columbia Studios with protesters and our attorneys, at which time we will announce the filing of a lawsuit which, in part, charges the studio with false and deceptive advertising for their upcoming violent movie release of `The Last Action Hero.'"
Citing a Columbia Pictures "900" line sweepstakes, which offers participants a chance to push the button and blast the rocket into space, Lieberman said, "The studio must know full well that NASA rules allow only Mission Control to push the button. Yet they continue to deceive the public into believing they can actually participate in the promotion of this violent film by pressing a launch button."
The attorney for NCTV, Randi Geffner, stated, "Furthermore, NCTV will seek a temporary restraining order which will prevent Sony's Columbia Pictures and Space Marketing from continuing in this campaign of fraud and deception."
Adding, "Is nothing sacred anymore? Has the space program -- which once was the pride of our nation -- become nothing more than an example of commercialization run amok, just to further the glamorization of primitive violence?"
