NATIONAL CITY CORPORATION LAUNCHES FIRST CORPORATE-WIDE IMAGE AND PRODUCT ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

 CLEVELAND, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC) today announced the launching of its first corporate-wide image and product advertising campaign with the new positioning theme, "Going the distance for you." The campaign capitalizes on the marketing and cost savings opportunities resulting from National City's announcement last February to have its banking and trust units in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana adopt the "National City" name.
 Member banks in many of National City's markets will introduce the new campaign in April through television commercials, radio commercials, print, outdoor, branch displays and other collateral materials. (See schedule below.) The campaign, which was produced by Marcus Advertising, headquartered in Cleveland, portrays people at various stages of life with different financial needs. "The ads show how National City can fulfill the financial needs of people throughout their lifetimes," said Thomas D. Woodbery, vice president and advertising manager for National City Corporation. "We're saying, 'No matter where you are now, National City can help you get where you want to be down the road.'"
 The rollout of these advertisements is the first initiative by the corporation to establish a corporate-wide promotional theme. Prior to this campaign, member banks used different positioning themes for their markets. "The Corporation will realize considerable savings by producing one set of television, radio and print advertisements that can be shared by all member banks," Woodbery explained.
