NATIONAL CITY CORPORATION ELECTS DAVID A. DABERKO PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 CLEVELAND, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward B. Brandon today announced that David A. Daberko was elected president and chief operating officer, having most recently served as deputy chairman of the corporation. Daberko, 48, will continue to be responsible for all of the corporation's banking units and will retain his position as chairman and chief executive officer of National City Bank (Cleveland). Daberko, together with William R. Robertson, deputy chairman of the corporation and head of all National City fee businesses, will continue to report to Brandon as members of the Office of the Chairman.

"Today's announcement reflects the significant contributions that Mr. Daberko has made to the Corporation over the past 25 years, and the Board of Directors' confidence in the strength of our leadership for the years ahead."
 Daberko has spent his entire banking career with National City, rising through the investment and corporate banking ranks to lead the corporate banking group of both National City Bank (Cleveland) and National City Corporation. In 1985, he was named president of National City Bank, Columbus (formerly BancOhio National Bank), which was acquired by National City in 1984. In 1986, he was elected vice chairman of the corporation, and a year later, he was elected deputy chairman of National City Corporation and president of National City Bank (Cleveland).
 A 1967 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Denison Univer ?Daberko earned his M.B.A. degree from Case Western University in 1970. In addition to serving as a director of National City Corporation and National City Bank (Cleveland), Daberko is a director of the Student Loan Marketing Association, Washington, and is a trustee of The Amos Tuck School.
 Daberko is a member of the Bankers Roundtable (formerly the Association of Reserve City Bankers). He also serves on several community boards, including University Hospitals of Cleveland, Inc., The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, University Circle Incorporated, North Coast Harbor, Inc., Neighborhood Progress, Inc., the Greater Cleveland Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Greater Cleveland Roundtable, and Hawken School.
