NATIONAL CITY BANK ANNOUNCES THREE TOP RETAIL MANAGEMENT PROMOTIONS

 CLEVELAND, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- National City Bank has announced three top retail management promotions effective March 1, 1993.
 William I. Cornett, Jr., 46, senior vice president and head of the retail banking group, has been elected executive vice president. Edward E. Christian, 36, vice president and manager of the branch division, has been promoted to senior vice president, and Nelson T. Hart (Terry), 47, vice president and head of retail services, has been promoted to senior vice president.
 "Bill's extensive background in retail banking has proved to be invaluable to National City Bank," said William E. MacDonald III, president, National City Bank. "This promotion and increased responsibilities reflect Bill's resounding successes to date.
 "Both Ed and Terry have spent many years honing their retail banking skills--and their respective promotions are well deserved," noted MacDonald. "Together, these three senior managers will continue to ensure National City Bank's retail banking success."
 Profile of William I. Cornett, Jr.
 Since July 1992, William I. Cornett, Jr., has served as head of the retail banking group at National City Bank, the lead bank of National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC). Cornett had previously served as an advisory task force leader for National City Corporation's "Vision" project -- a comprehensive effort to redesign the Corporation's cost base.
 In 1969, Cornett joined First National Bank of Louisville, a subsidiary of National City Corporation, and was named vice president in 1978. He was named senior vice president of asset product management in 1983, assumed responsibility for branch administration and retail lending activities in 1985, and was named executive vice president of the retail banking group in 1989.
 A native of Louisville, Cornett is a graduate of the Athenaeum of Ohio and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He and his family reside in Hudson, Ohio.
 Profile of Edward E. Christian
 Edward E. Christian has served as vice president and manager of the branch division since March 1992. In addition to the branch division, Christian now oversees both grocery store banking and public funds. Christian previously had served as vice president and branch area executive.
 Christian joined National City Bank in 1981 as a management trainee in the branch division and was promoted to branch manager in 1983. In 1984, he was named district account officer and was promoted to vice president and regional manager in 1986. In 1988, he was named vice president, metro/Ohio division.
 A resident of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Christian is a 1978 graduate of Case Western Reserve University.
 Profile of Nelson T. Hart
 Nelson T. Hart has spent his 23-year banking career at National City Bank. He joined the bank in 1970 as a branch operations trainee and was appointed branch operations officer in 1974. Hart was promoted to assistant vice president in 1977 and to vice president in 1980.
 In March 1992, Hart assumed responsibility for the retail services division, supervising financial control, personnel and compliance functions, branch operations and grocery store banking. In January 1993, he assumed the additional responsibility for the properties and purchasing department.
 Hart and his wife reside in Valley City, Ohio.
