NATIONAL CHILD SAFETY COUNCIL PARTNER IN TV PROGRAMMING
 DISTRIBUTED BY HOME SHOPPING CLUB
JACKSON, Mich., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Missing Children...Help Center, the National Missing Children's Division of National Child Safety Council announced today that Home Shopping Club, Inc. (HSC), subsidiary of Home Shopping Network, Inc. (NYSE: HSN) (HSN), will distribute BRING THEM HOME AMERICA to the television industry coast-to- coast to communicate safety tips and direct widespread attention to the plight of our nation's missing children.
BRING THEM HOME AMERICA will begin to hit TV screens at the same time many children will be out of school, away from frequent safety reminders and perhaps less closely supervised by adults. Thus, the programming is packed with safety tips which the Center urges parents to reinforce with their youngsters.
The Center's work was first supported by HSC with a six-hour Christmas telecast of BRING THEM HOME AMERICA, a video photo album with snapshots of some of the more than 550,000 children registered with the National Crime Information Computer. The program aired exclusively on Home Shopping Club.
Now, HSC has updated and expanded BRING THEM HOME AMERICA into 30- minute and 60-minute formats available free to cable systems and TV stations. Each segment counsels viewers about what to do if they recognize a child pictured.
The Center, 400 Ware Blvd., Suite 400, Tampa, Fla. 33619, is a non- profit organization founded March 1, 1982. It operates a nationwide toll-free telephone line to assist parents and law enforcement agencies across the country with parent counseling and record sightings of missing children 24 hours a day.
The Center's main connection to the general public is its National Poster Publication, a tabloid made up entirely of photos of missing children and other related information.
The Missing Children...Help Center employs a unique inspired network of people engaged in a tireless search for missing children. Many missing children have been found thanks to photos posted on milk cartons and at day-care centers and truck stops -- missing kids' pictures are everywhere.
Ivana DiNova, executive director and founder of the Center said, "I encourage Americans to watch BRING THEM HOME AMERICA; I'm optimistic its powerful message will raise the nation's consciousness about missing children and their families. I sincerely thank HSC for helping desperate parents search for their children and delivering important safety messages."
Home Shopping's involvement with the Center has developed because of the compelling, universal concern evoked by missing children. Roy M. Speer, HSN's chairman and chief executive officer, said, "We at Home Shopping believe it is extremely important to reinforce safety precautions and also let missing children and their families know they are not forgotten. We hope airing photos of missing children on television nationwide will keep public awareness alive until all the children come home."
