 NATIONAL CAR RENTAL BECOMES NATIONAL INTERRENT;
 ENTERS NEW ERA WITH GLOBAL PARTNERS
 NEW YORK, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- National Car Rental System, Inc. announced today it has become National Interrent, part of a global car rental system that includes Tilden Interrent in Canada, Nippon Interrent in Japan and the Pacific Rim, and Europcar Interrent in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
 With the common Interrent identifier, the four companies now share a unified system "look" around the globe, and the same commitment to recognition, speed and consistency in customer service.
 Interrent logos for system members will feature the same typeface and distinctive green color. Travelers in any part of the world will now have a quick and easy way to identify Interrent companies and know they will receive consistent, quality service wherever they rent.
 "Customer satisfaction is the name of the game in our industry," said National Interrent Chairman Thomas N. Murphy. "And with the combined loyalty from each company's strong customer base, Interrent is well on its way to becoming the car rental system of choice throughout the world."
 According to Robert J. McKenna, National's president and chief operating officer, system members are currently developing common customer service programs, global technological initiatives and joint marketing plans.
 "With the growing emphasis on the worldwide economy, global service capabilities are essential for any travel or transportation company doing business in the nineties," said McKenna. "While we have shared many things in our long standing international relationships over the years, it was time for our mutual commitment to common goals to enter a new era."
 National's international agreements began with Tilden, the only Canadian-owned car rental firm in Canada, in an alliance first formed in 1959. National signed its original agreement with Europcar in 1974 and the company's relationship with Nippon Rent-A-Car came in 1988. System members in the 25 countries of Central and South America and the islands of the Caribbean and Bahamas operate under the National banner.
 "Our U.S. travellers have come to expect National's dedication to quality and complete customer satisfaction," said Murphy. "Now they'll know they can get the same unwavering commitment to excellence in global car rental wherever they see that familiar green and white Interrent sign."
 National features General Motors vehicles and services over 4,600 locations in 124 countries worldwide with system members Tilden Interrent in Canada, Nippon Interrent in Japan, and Europcar Interrent in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
