 NATIONAL BEVERAGE REPORTS STRONG SECOND QUARTER
 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- National Beverage


Corp. (NASDAQ: POPS) today reported a 23 percent increase in second quarter operating earnings. Net income for the quarter ended Oct. 26, 1991, was $1.6 million, or $.63 per share, on net sales of $82.0 million.
 Revenues and operating earnings for the six months increased over the same period last year. Net income for the six months was $5.7 million, or $2.30 per share, on net sales of $181.1 million.
 Last year's operating earnings, which exclude the equity in earnings of an affiliate, for the six-month and three-month periods ended Oct. 27, 1990 were $4.9 million and $1.3 million respectively.
 The company's operations in all segments continued to trend upward for the first two quarters of FY '92, and included internal start-up investments required by several new sales opportunities.
 National Beverage, which began trading on NASDAQ on Sept. 13, 1991, is a holding company for various operating subsidiaries that manufacture, market and distribute a full line of cola and multi-flavored branded soft drinks and bottled water: Shasta(R), Faygo(R), Body Works(R), a Sante(R) and Spree(R). The company's subsidiaries, through their 12 strategically located manufacturing facilities, also bottle soft drinks for retail grocery chains, wholesalers and other soft drink companies.
