NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS TO HOLD CONVENTION IN HONOLULU

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS TO HOLD CONVENTION IN HONOLULU
Talk about combining business with pleasure -- The National Association of Realtors' 85th Annual Convention and Trade Exposition in Honolulu, Nov. 12-17, is the place to do it. Don't miss the boat (or the plane) to one of the best collections of today's real estate stories in one of the finest settings around. Hot topics in warm tropics, might be a good way to think of this convention.
Topics ranging from buyer brokerage, to real estate tax changes, to the commercial real estate market, to international real estate opportunities and challenges, to housing legislation, to the market outlook, to environmental issues, to the impact of the November elections on housing, will be addressed.
More than 20,000 realtors and guests are gathering for this convention and trade exposition, which will feature intensive education sessions, as well as opportunities to network with colleagues throughout the world. In addition to NAR members, more than 200 real estate professionals from 22 countries are expected to attend the meetings and an International Real Estate Symposium hosted by NAR in conjunction with the Honolulu convention.
Listed below is a run-down of the information reporters will need to know in planning convention coverage. (Please note that since last year there are a few new "procedures" regarding registration.)
-- The media center will be located in Nautilus Rooms II and III in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It will be open daily beginning at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12. It will close at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
-- All news conferences and media briefings during the convention will be scheduled between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday, Nov. 13; Saturday, Nov. 14, and Monday, Nov. 16. Highlighting the briefing schedule will be a news conference with 1992 NAR President Dorcas T. Helfant at 11 a.m., on Friday.
-- A light lunch of sandwiches and soft drinks will be served daily at the noon hour in the media room.
-- The NAR media reception will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
-- The trade exposition, featuring nearly 350 booths, will open Friday, Nov. 13, and run through Monday, Nov. 16.
-- All media registrations must be on the enclosed form and received at NAR's Public Affairs office by Sept. 28. If you are requesting a hotel room, your completed registration form must be accompanied by a $200 check made out to NAR HONOLULU-92, or authorization to charge your credit card for that amount.
-- There is no convention registration fee for members of the news media and/or the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE). However, if you also are a member of the National Association or its affiliates, you must pay the applicable registration fee(s).
-- A block of rooms has been reserved for the media at the Hilton and the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel (see attached hotel map). Also, you may select accommodations at convention rates from the attached list of hotels. Be sure to indicate your first, second and third choices on the registration form by using the order codes on the hotel list.
-- All media housing is done on a first come, first served basis, and early registration is recommended to increase the chances of assignment at the preferred hotel. After your registration has been processed by the NAR Public Affairs Division, it will be forwarded to I.T.S., NAR's official registrar and travel coordinator for the 1992 convention. You will receive hotel confirmations by mail from I.T.S. (If you need to contact I.T.S. for air fare schedules and discount rates or other travel information, the phone number is 1-800-621- 1083.)
-- If we receive your registration by Sept. 28, you will receive a convention packet INCLUDING YOUR BADGE, by mail prior to convention. There is no need to register in the Public Affairs office on site if you have received your badge and convention packet. However, we will have an updated media highlights schedule available in the Nautilus Rooms II and III beginning Nov. 12. After Sept. 28, you may register using the enclosed form and pick up your badge on site. Please note, however, that hotel rooms are likely to be in very short supply by late September.
Please send your completed registration form and $200 deposit to NAR Honolulu-92 to:
