NASA eClips[TM] and ITEEA Invite Digital Media and STEM Teachers to Participate in a Study.
NASA eClips[TM]and ITEEA invite digital media and STEM teachers to participate in a study. As part of an evaluation study, these teachers will implement the NASA Spotlite Design Challenge with at least 20 students (ages 13-18) during the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year and share their observations about this implementation with an evaluator.
What is the NASA Spotlite Design Challenge?
This challenge results in the creation of a NASA Spotlite video. Spotlites are 90-120-second student-produced video segments that address common science misconceptions as determined by reputable assessment sources such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), National Science Foundation (NSF) Factual Knowledge Questions, and the Misconceptions-Oriented Standards-based Assessment Resources for Teachers (MOSART). Some NASA Spotlites are paired with a science lesson and published on the NASA eClips[TM] website. Examples are found at this link: https://nasaeclips.arc.nasa.gov/.
Teachers within this study must commit to:
* Pre- and post-surveys with the evaluator.
* 100% Student pre- and post-survey completion.
* Following the design challenge implementation protocol.
Two to three weeks is the estimated time for completing the design challenge. To compensate you for your time, you will be given a $300 stipend after successfully completing the challenge, gathering the required data, and completing all evaluation requirements.
