NAGEL APPOINTED TO APPLE EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM
NAGEL APPOINTED TO APPLE EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer Inc.
(NASDAQ: AAPL) today announced that Dr. David Nagel has been promoted to senior vice president, Advanced Technology Group (ATG) and has been appointed to Apple's Executive Management Team. Nagel is responsible for directing long-range research and strategic planning for Apple's future technologies, and will now also serve as technical advisor to the Executive Management Team. Dr. Nagel reports to John Sculley, Apple's chairman, chief executive officer, and chief technology officer.
Dr. Nagel has been working directly with Sculley in designing Apple's directions for multimedia and played a key role in the Apple, IBM, and Motorola alliance negotiations. He continues as acting general manager for the Consumer Products Division and has been instrumental in Apple's efforts to petition the Federal Communications Commission to allow radio frequencies to be used for wireless data communications. Dr. Nagel joined Apple in June 1988 as head of the User Technologies Group within ATG. He was promoted to vice president of ATG in April 1990. Prior to joining Apple, Nagel was a research scientist and chief of the Aerospace Human Factors Research Division at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field in Mountain View, Calif., for 17 years. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in
Engineering and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles.
