NABISCO ACQUIRES BRAZILIAN BEVERAGE COMPANY PARSIPPANY, N.J., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Nabisco Foods Group
today announced that its Brazilian subsidiary, Produtos Alimenticios Fleischmann e Royal Ltda., has acquired Industrias Alimenticias Maguary S.A., the country's largest producer and marketer of packaged fruit-based beverages.
The company was acquired from Companhia Souza Cruz Industria e Comercio, the Brazilian subsidiary of B.A.T. Industries, Plc. Terms of the acquisition
were not disclosed.
Maguary, which had sales last year of approximately $50 million, operates manufacturing plants in three locations. Fleischmann e Royal is a major Brazilian producer of dessert mixes, baking powder, yeast and biscuits. H. John Greeniaus, president of the Nabisco Foods Group, said, "The acquisition of Maguary strengthens our position and enhances our ability to grow in one of our fastest growing international markets."
