NA session adjourned till May 9: Ch Nisar opposes adjournment.
ISLAMABAD, April 30, 2011 (Frontier Star): National Assembly (NA)
session has been adjourned till May, 9 while opposition leader Ch Nisar
Ali Khan has opposed adjournment saying this move will inflict heavy
loss to national kitty. Speaking on a point of order Chaudhry Nisar Ali
Khan said on one hand people were severely hit by price hike and on the
other hand government had adjourned NA session without taking any one
into confidence. Adjournment means Rs 4000 per day on account of TA/DA
will be given to every legislator without any performing any function .
"It is sheer burden on national exchequer", he added. He
proposed that session be adjourned for only two days and it should
resume its proceedings on Monday. Giving second proposal he said if
session was adjourned till May, 9 then no legislator be paid any TA/DA.
In his third suggestion he said that government should adjourn session
till 4 days before budget. Acting speaker NA Faisal Karim Kundi said
adjournment decision had been taken by house business advisory committee
which could not be overlooked. Ch Nisar said if government adjourns
session till May 9 and TA/DA is also paid to legislators then his party
will not participate in the session. Syed Khurshid Shah held out
assurance that no TA/DA would be paid to legislators during this period.
