NA Committee presents budget recommendations for financial year 2018-19.
Islamabad -- The National Assembly Standing Committee on National health services, regulations and coordination has presented its budget recommendations for the financial year 2018-19.
The Committee briefed regarding Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) budget estimate of Rs. 37.710 billion of nearly fifty-eight projects.
The committee meeting was held the chairmanship of Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman Khan. The Committee considered PSDP in detail and approved the same with some suggestions.
Meeting participants highlighted the loopholes in on-going and new projects of the Ministry for PSDP 2018-19 in reply of which, Ministry assured the Committee that Ministry will consider the suggestions in letter and spirit.
The Committee considered the 'HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013' (moved by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, MNA) and after detail deliberation recommended that the Bill may be deferred till next meeting.
It also considered the 'The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan- (Amendment) Bill, 2017' (moved by Dr. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA) in detail and rejected the bill. Further the Committee recommended that Ministry may investigate the matter of open milk being sold at Sunday Bazaars which is injurious to the health of Childs.
During the meeting NIH Executive Director told the meeting currently work was going on fifty-eight projects and estimated cost of these projects was Rs. 37 billion as proposal presented in PSDP. The last health budget had started in 2010 but work was also no held on this. All other agenda items deferred till next meeting of the Committee.
The Members/MNA/Mover Dr. Mohammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, Ms. Shakila Khalid Luqman, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Dr. Mohammad Azhar Khan Jadoon, Syed Ghazi Gulab Jamal, MNAs, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA/Mover and Ms. Saira Afzal Tarrar, Minister for NHS,R and C attended the meeting, besides members, senior officers of the Ministry of NHS,R and C and National Institute of Health (NIH), attended the meeting.
