N30,000 Minimum Wage: Dankwambo To Engage NLC On Implementation.
Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Gombe State have been assured that the Government will soon engage its leadership on arrangements that would ensure the implementation of the N30,000 new minimum wage.
The assurance was given by the Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo Wednesday afternoon during the celebration of 2019 Workers Day Celebration held at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
The Governor also assured the workers that his Government would continue to work in partnership with the leadership of the NLC in the State towards resolving all workers related issues until May 29th when his tenure as Governor will end. Ibrahim Dankwambo described the Civil Service as veritable machinery for the implementation of Government policies and programmes, as such, Government has invested so much on employment, training and retraining of civil servants in ministries, departments and agencies as well as in the Local Government Areas of Govern.
While speaking earlier, the Gombe State NLC Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Adamu Musa, appreciated the Ibrahim Dankwambo led Government for being workers friendly as they enjoy prompt and uninterrupted payment of salaries, pension and other policies and programmes that indeed strengthen the civil service.
He, however, called on the State Government to give immediate attention to the reinstatement and payment of salary arrears of workers who were not found guilty of committing any offense and were cleared by the committee on staff verification in the service of the State and Local Governments.
Adamu Musa also called for the immediate enrollment of Local Government retirees into the pension scheme in order to reduce their suffering and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
