My leisurely afternoon...

I JOINED a group of over 50s yesterday to try out walking football.

It's like having a leisurely kick-about before the start of a five-a-side footie match - but then it just carries on like that.

The point is it's so infernally tempting to break into a jog. Even a shuffle-cum-trot without anyone noticing. Possibly.

Mind you, in 2002, I broke my left wrist in a bad fall during a full-speed, five-a-side match and ended up in A&E. So I was kind of grateful for the softly, softly approach. I'd brought along an apple and pear juice carton to rehydrate afterwards but it wasn't really needed. Our kickabout was a warm-up before the first session on Monday. Maybe I'll have worked up a sweat by then.
