My Travel closures.

Tour operator MyTravel is to close its Going Places shop in Captain Cook shopping centre, Middlesbrough, by the end of this month.

A spokeswoman said staff will be moved to other shops nearby as the company brings forward plans to close more than 100 of its high street outlets.

The move comes as MyTravel looks to generate more business online. Internet sales last year made up 16pc of bookings compared with 9pc in 2004.

Going Places has another shop in Middlesbrough along with sites in Coulby Newham, Guisborough, Hartlepool, Redcar and at Teesside Park, Stockton.
