The event is at Gateshead's Caedmon Hall on Saturday, from 7pm.

It will feature violinist Kala Ramnath and sitar player Purbayan Chaterjee, alongside Akram Khan on the tabla.

A spokesman said: "The musicians are highly regarded for their flawless techniques. Kala is one of India's most outstanding young musicians and Purbayan brings richness, discipline and lyricism to his music which has earned him huge recognition.

"Having toured extensively and performed in some of the most prestigious festivals, this is a rare opportunity to see both artists and experience the soulful, inspiring and beautiful melodies of the violin and sitar."
