Musical evening to help hospice.

A NIGHT of live entertainment is set to "raise the roof" for charity.

Local talent Joe Ramsey and Shoot the Poet, as well as many other musicians from the North-east, will perform at the Georgian Theatre in Stockton on Friday, July 10, to help fundraise for the Butterwick Hospice.

The Raise The Roof event has been organised by Ashleigh Wood, who works in the human resources department at the Butterwick Hospice.

She said: "At work, I see the incredible jobs both staff and volunteers do for the patients, their families and the rest of the community. I thought it was time I helped to do my bit to ensure the sustainability of such a worthwhile cause."

A previous charity evening raised more than PS800 for the Butterwick Hospice on April 14.

Local bands played at Mink Bar in Middlesbrough, as well as Joe Ramsey, Ellis Rayner, Poker Club, Panama, Collectors Club, and John and the Ragmen.

There was also a raffle with prizes that included a flying lesson from Durham Tees Flight Academy.

Miss Wood added: "I am holding the event in July with the hope of exceeding the funds from last time, while also giving local musicians the publicity they need to succeed in the meantime."
