Sweet Home comes alive with sound of country

The Oregon Jamboree rolls into Sweet Home this weekend with performances by Alan Jackson (9:30 p.m. today), Gary Allan (8:30 p.m. Saturday) and Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Lawrence (5:15 p.m. Sunday).

Other featured acts include Joe Nichols, the Derailers, Ronnie Milsap, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Phil Vassar. Travis Ledoyt has replaced Bering Strait in the 1:30 p.m. Saturday slot.

The gathering offers RV and tent camping, food booths, beer and wine gardens, and specialty booths. Tickets are $55 per day or $75 for a three-day pass. Reserved seating also is available.

Blues bash by the river honors the `Rooster'

The waterfront blues bash Rooster by the River returns at noon on Sunday to Maurie Jacobs Park, off River Road at Fir Lane. Sponsored by Oregonians for Loggers and Trees, the gathering honors the late local blues booster Gavin "Rooster" Fox.

Featured acts: Supe's Soldiers (noon), Rooster's Renegades (1 p.m.), Desiree Ten Bears and the Loggin' Lords (2 p.m.), De Riggin' Warriors (3 p.m.), Sticky Mouse (4 p.m.), the Righteous Rebels (5 p.m.), T-Bone Weldon (6 p.m.) and Disciples of de Rooster (7 p.m.). A $5 donation is suggested.
