STOCKTON'S Arc launches Klub Knievel, a new monthly rock'n'roll disco for people over 14, tonight.

The eclectic mix of rock, indie, metal, pop, hip hop and the rest on the first Friday of every month will consist of one young local band, one more established local band and one out of towner as well as DJs, paparazzi, and various other fun and frolics.

Kicking things off tonight is hip-hop party band MIDDLEMAN, who hail from Leeds and have had huge interest from Radio One's elite including Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stevens.

Representing Teesside will be alternative rockers IN SO FAR, who have a mini album Medicine For The Melancholic out now, metal maniacs MASSACRE ON BROADWAY and indie kids THE SMALL SCREEN LIGHT SHOW are also on the bill.

INDIE rock'n'rollers THE LURIOS are headlining at Stockton's Georgian Theatre tomorrow, along with Teesside's favourite non-cult THE CHAPMAN FAMILY and two well recommended Geordie groups THE NEW VINYLS and EYEJAB. Entry is pounds 5/pounds 4.

On Thursday the Georgian has singer/songwriter DAVID FORD. We here at Gazette Towers have had an advance copy of his album for a couple of weeks now and can vouch for his brilliance.

Entry is pounds 8.50.

THIS week's Shine Like Stars event at the Ku Bar in Stockton tonight has live music from hotly tipped Liverpool group THE HOTMELTS, local rockers THE MADISON FALLOUT and the brilliantly named MY PRETEND ORCHESTRA.
