Murray: I've got the experience now; BOXING.
MARTIN MURRAY feels the timing is perfect for him to finally become world champion when he faces Arthur Abraham tonight.
The St Helens fighter will have his fourth crack at world honours when he fights Abraham for the WBO super-middleweight title in Hannover, Germany. His previous three attempts have all been unsuccessful, but Murray is confident that everything will fall into place. He said: "Abraham is a great champion and I'm expecting a tough fight but I just feel that the timing is right for me. It's going to be a tough fight but I know it is well within me to win."
Murray's previous world title fights came earlier in his career, and he believes that lack of experience was what cost him on those occasions.
"I think my first world title fight against Felix Sturm may have come a little bit too early," he said. "I jumped straight from domestic to world level, so even though there was an argument to say I won that fight, I think it came too soon for me. Against Sergio Martinez, I knew I could win but going into the fight there were still some doubts. Whereas this time, I know I have it within me to win against Abraham. I've got the ring experience, I've got the knowhow, and I really feel, despite being in Germany, I'm going to get a fair crack of the whip."
