The mother of murdered Becky Godden-Edwards has paid tribute to her daughter and spoken of how her horrific death has devastated the family.

A tearful Karen Edwards told a police press conference: "My daughter has been murdered and to be given the news on what would have been her 29th birthday, we can't believe it."

Mrs Edwards said her daughter's drug addiction had turned her into a "very different person".

"Life was hard before when she was living the life of an addict but we really did think she was alive and that one day she would come back home," she said.

Becky Godden-Edwards body was discovered by detectives after an investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Sian O'Callaghan who went missing after leaving Swindon's Suju nightclub in the early hours of March 19.

Miss O'Callaghan's body was discovered 15 miles away, close to the Uffington White Horse in Oxfordshire. An inquest heard that she probably died from head injuries.

Wiltshire Police have charged a 47-year-old cab driver Chris Halliwell with the murder of Sian O'Callaghan.

Officers were taken to the site of Becky Godden-Edwards body by Mr Halliwell who then became a double-murder suspect.

Miss Godden-Edwards was found in a field at Baxter's Farm in Eastleach, Gloucestershire, after police began excavating the site. She was last seen by her family in Swindon around eight years ago after becoming "disconnected" from them.

It was not until 2007 that they contacted the National Missing Persons Helpline.

Detectives investigating the murders of the two women have said they are looking at the possibility of further victims.
