Murder investigation launched after body discovered in Beddau.

POLICE have launched a murder investigation after what are believed to be human remains were discovered in the grounds of a block of flats.

Officers were called to the Trem-Y-Cwm House flats in Beddau, near Pontypridd, at around 1pm yesterday when the discovery was made.

The body - which has not been identified - was concealed above ground in an outside area of the flats.

Detective Superintendent Paul Hurley, said: "The death is suspicious and we are treating it as a murder.

"It is therefore important that we speak to anybody who may have information about this incident - anyone who thinks they know something that can assist our investigation.

"A priority for us is to identify whose body it is and to find out how the person died."

A police cordon has been set up and the scene is being preserved while forensic examinations are being carried out to determine the identity of the body. A Home Office postmortem examination will also be carried out to establish cause of death.

Anyone who has any information is urged to contact South Wales Police via 101 or they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
