The trial will be heard before a High Court judge.
The court also heard Mair will next appear on September 19, before his plea which is pencilled in for October 4. Mair is charged with murdering the 41-yearold mother-of-two, grievous bodily harm relating to Bernard Kenny, who tried to intervene, possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon.
Mrs Cox was killed in the street as she turned up to a constituents' surgery at Birstall Market Place shortly before 1pm last Thursday.
Vigils were held across the nation and the world on Wednesday as people marked what would have been her 42nd birthday.
