Munroe, Consolo to serve as sponsorship co-chairs of AREW event.

The Association of Real Estate Women (AREW) will mark its 25th Anniversary with a gala to be held on April 2 at the St. Regis Hotel, 2 East 55th St., New York City. The guest speaker will be Alair Townsend, vice president and publisher of Grain's New York Business. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of awards to Women of Outstanding Achievement in twelve categories of real estate expertise.

AREW solicited nominations from the real estate industry at large, for the awards were not limited to AREW members. The 12 women who will receive an Outstanding Woman of Achievement award will be: Deborah Adelman, Finance; Stephanie Butler, Real Estate Services; Faith Hope Consolo, Retail Brokerage; Barbara Corcoran, Residential Brokerage; Sherry Frankel, Property Management; Veronica Hackett, Development and Construction; Patricia Lancaster Public Sector; Louise Matthews, Corporate Real Estate; Susan Rahm, Law; Marilyn Jordan Taylor, Architecture, Design and Engineering; Mary Ann Tighe, Office Brokerage; and Marilyn Weitzman, Appraisal and Valuation.

AREW was founded in 1978 by a small group of women real estate executives in order to create an association by and for women real estate professionals, who were very few at that time, in order to provide the opportunity to meet, learn from, and support other women in their professional and personal growth. In the following 25 years, AREW's mission has remained constant, while it has risen from a fledging organization to one of the real estate industry's most vital, active, and trend-setting associations.

AREW's commitment to community responsibility is expressed through the AREW Charitable Fund, which has provided longstanding support of Women in Need, Inc. (WIN) and also awards scholarships to students in New York City Real Estate programs, including City College/Baruch, New York University, and Columbia University.

Faith Hope Consolo, vice-chairman, GarrickAug Worldwide, Ltd., and Maureen R. Munroe, vice president/chief appraiser, Citibank Community Development, have again joined forces as Sponsorship Co-Chairs of the event. Consolo and Munroe first met when they worked together in the early 90s, on the AREW Board. Then, while Consolo was president of AREW in 1993, Munroe was at her side as member at large. Working as a team in June, 1997, they helped make the AREW Times Square Fund-Raising 'Gala a fantastic success, as well as the AREW 20th Anniversary Celebration in April 1998. It is their goal to make this 25th Anniversary the best ever.

The Gala begins at 7 p.m. and includes a cocktail reception, dinner, and the awards presentation The cost is $75 for AREW members and $200 for non-members.
