As part of the 41st UAE National Day celebrations, the Dubai Municipality (DM) and the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City have organised a variety of events and campaigns to highlight patriotism and loyalty.

According to the DM, the events have been organised to mark the importance of the occasion and the overall boom witnessed by the UAE under the wise leadership that has led the country to success.

Director-General of the Dubai Municipality Hussain Nasser Lootah said, the celebration is not limited to the main building of DM, but it will also take place in all centres and facilities of the civic body, including the parks, beaches and Children's City.

Khalid Mohammed Badri, Director of the Corporate Marketing and Relations Department, said that the DM has formed a special team to manage its National Day activities.

DM employees will celebrate the National Day on Thursday and a variety of programmes have been prepared in this regard, which will involve school students, who will present some cultural shows about the National Day.

In addition, the employees of the Architectural Heritage Department will also display its products to the public. The DM premises will be decorated with tents and balloons, popular local food items will be on offer, while photography and calligraphy exhibitions, traditional performances and live stage shows, as well as a special children's programme will also be organised.

DM's activities are also being publicised on the home page of the civic body's website.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City will organise a two-day awareness campaign ahead of the National Day celebration to maintain the Capital's urbanised look in the face of celebrations.

According to the Public Health Division at the Municipality, the campaign, starting November 29, is aimed at getting all residents to look after the city's streets, facilities and public hygiene.

"The municipality calls upon all the residents and visitors to show commitment to positive practices in maintaining the public utilities such as roads and parks, and caring for the environment of the city while expressing zeal and joy for the UAE's 41st National Day," said Director of Public Health Safety Khalifa Al Rumaithi. This could well be manifested in safeguarding the public properties, and refraining from negative practices such as littering in streets, disturbing others, damaging pavements and streets or driving dangerously, he added.
