Municipal elections could take place in March 2017 (Afek Tounes' Karim Helali).

TUNIS, (TAP) - The municipal elections could take place in the second week of March 2017, MP Karim Helali, leader in Afek Tounes party told TAP on Thursday evening.

Speaking after the meeting that brought together Thursday Prime Minister Habib Essid and members of the co-ordination of ruling parties' coalition, Helali noted: "it is possible that these elections take place on Sunday, March 12, 2017."

The choice of this date requires "more co-ordination" with the Independent High Elections Authority," he said.

Karim Helali also said emphasis was placed during the meeting on the need to expedite the discussion and completion of laws on municipal elections.
