Mum who abducted boy, 11.

A TWISTED mother abducted an 11-year-old boy she was grooming for sex, a court heard.

The child's frantic mother searched the streets for 12 hours looking for him after Catherine Davidson took him away from his Northumberland home to stay with a relative of hers in County Durham.

Davidson, 31, declared her love for the youngster In a series of text messages sent to a phone she gave him and showered him with gifts and treats.

The mum-of-seven, who has custody of none of her own children, was found in bed with the schoolboy when they were eventually traced.

Despite repeated warnings to keep away from the boy Davidson stayed in touch with him via text and continued to make plans for them to meet up until she was arrested and put behind bars on remand.

Davidson, of Sweethope Avenue, Ashington, admitted meeting a child following sexual grooming and abducting a child, in February.

At Newcastle Crown Court yesterday Judge John Evans sentenced her to two-and-ahalf years behind bars.

Davidson must also sign the sex offenders register for life, has been banned from working with children for life and must abide by an indefinite sexual offences prevention order which bars her having unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.
