Mum of inspirational Stephen picks up his degree.

THE mum of fundraiser Stephen Sutton picked up his posthumous honorary degree from Coventry University.

Jane Sutton collected the award during a ceremony at Coventry Cathedral.

Stephen, who raised more than PS5million for charity, received an honorary doctorate of science in recognition of his outstanding contribution to highlighting the needs of young people with cancer.

The 19-year-old from Staf-Staf fordshire died in May after a four-year battle against bowel cancer.

The Teenage Cancer Trust announced in September that around PS1.2m of the money raised would go to support vital research and to create 50 scholarships in his name for professionals to train for the university's Postgraduate Certificate in Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Care.

The scholarships were set up in recognition of Stephen's ambition to pursue a medical career.
