A GRIEVING mother breaks down as she hears her late son's heart beating inside the man who received it.
Lisa Swanson met Terry Hooper, 64, for the first time three years after the donated organ from crash victim Levi Schulz, 18, saved his life.
She wept on listening to an ultrasound of his heart but said: "To hear it beating loud and strong in Terry was a great experience."
Terry, who had the chronic heart disease cardiomyopathy, wore a T-shirt printed with Levi's face - and called the teenager "my hero". Lisa said she began to see bits of her son's personality in Terry as she spent time with him.
"I saw Levi aged 64," she said.
"That quick-wittedness and joking - almost like a perfect match."
During the meeting at a medical centre in Omaha, Nebraska, Terry gave her a stuffed toy that plays a recording of her son's heartbeat.
Lisa said: "I'll listen to it every night. I'm sad Levi isn't here but happy he was able to help Terry through being an organ donor."
