Mum 'to be in labour for rest of life' HEALTH.

Byline: STEPHEN WHITE

A YOUNG mum-to-be is facing a lifetime of labour pain because of a rare condition affecting her nervous system.

Debbie Mills, 23, was diagnosed with incurable complex regional pain syndrome in October 2009.

If sufferers are hurt, they can feel pain in that area for the rest of their lives or even be paralysed.

Debbie was told the disease should render her infertile but last November she found out she was pregnant.

She said: "I was shocked. My first thought was, 'Could I have the baby?'

"But the doctors could not tell me anything as they had never seen anyone my age with CRPS get pregnant."

Debbie and partner Dan Hamlett, 23, from Chellaston, Derbyshire, says her unborn child is a "little miracle".

"I might suffer the pains of labour for years or forever after the birth. I admit I am scared but I know it will all be worth it in the end."
