SPYHOLES in a waterpark changing rooms left a mum horrified after she discovered them on two separate visits.

Joanne Adoniadis, a mm-of-two from Felling, Gateshead, visited the North Shields waterpark for the first time with her two children, aged seven and five, in March.

The discovery was reported and Wet 'n'Wild said the holes were immediately filled in by staff.

The 37-year-old said: "I was utterly disgusted to see a drill hole at waist height between the two.

"It was absolutely awful, the first thing that went through my mind was the worst possible scenario. "It must have been at that level so an adult who didn't know it was there wouldn't see it.

Facilities manager Kevin Nolan said: "The safety and wellbeing of customers is of upmost importance at Wet 'n' Wild and we do not tolerate vandalism to our property.

"A hole approximately 5mm in diameter was discovered in the lowest part of a changing room wall and was immediately filled in.

"Our management staff have fully checked every single cubicle in our building and there are no other reports of related issues.

"The customer involved was issued with admission vouchers as a goodwill gesture which they used during this May half term."

On June 1, they decided to give the park another chance - but on checking the cubicles discovered another hole.

She contacted staff immediately and said she believes the hole was quickly filled in with putty.

Joanne said managers assured her they would check to make sure this didn't happen again, and she has called for a full investigation.

She said: "We are never going back with the kids, it just makes me think whoever has done this, if they are in the area, they could come back and do it again. In my view, I would be checking each cubicle every day and you would be able to narrow it down as to when it was being done."

Mr Nolan said the waterpark has stressed the importance of checks to staff in the wake of the second complaint.
