Multiple medal success for Wenlo RDA riding trio; EQUESTRIAN.

RIDERS FROM the Wenlo Wenlo Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) based in Normanton-on-Soar have struck gold at the Special Olympics Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Equestrian Competition in Sheffield.

Liam Mahoney brought home two gold medals in working trails and horse care and knowledge and a bronze in dressage, while Stephen Green won a gold in dressage, silver in working trals and bronze in horse care and knowledge.

There was also a place on the podium for Jonathan Rigby at the British Dressage Para Championships which were held at Solihull Riding Club near Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire.

Competitors in the ID Championship Class are selected based on their scores in regional competitions, with only the top 10 per cent nationally invited to compete at the Championship.

Jonathan Rigby rode Wenlo RDA's Charlie in the Walk Only test, which is marked by two judges who awarded him scores of 74.16% and 67.77% for a final total of 70.97% - a personal best for Jonathan. The Wenlo combination held the lead until the final competitors rode, eventually finishing in third place for bronze and the highest-placed junior.
