Muharraq pip Shabab.

CHAMPIONS Muharraq regained their winning touch in the Bahrain First Division Soccer League with a 1-0 victory over Al Shabab last night at Al Ahli Club Stadium in Mahooz.

Muharraq, playing without seven internationals who are presently on national duty in Singapore, netted the match-winner in the 16th minute.

Mohammed Abdulla sent a long pass towards young striker Fahad Shuwaiter who broke through Al Shabab's defence and goalkeeper Mahmood Abdulghani before tapping the ball into the empty net.

With one match remaining against Al Najma on Sunday, Muharraq are now on 51 points, nine ahead of second place Busaiteen who suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of promoted club Al Hidd.

Midfielder Ali Norooz gave Al Hidd an eighth-minute lead and substitute striker Nayef Kuwaiti doubled it 12 minutes into the second-half with a solo effort.
