Mrs Mop.

We put some champers to the make sure your New Year Party is a lovely bubbly, fizz-fest that won't go flat.

Veuve Monsigny champagne This is one champers I would recomend for mixing with other liquids to make champagne cocktails rather than drinking on its own. It wasn't as bubbly as I would have liked, but combined with creme de casis it made a delicious Kir Royale and, at under a tenner for a bottle of champers, it is still a decent quaff for the price. Verdict: Price: pounds 9.99 Available: Aldi

Comte De Brismand champagne I found this one a little acidic but it had plenty of fizz, making it ideal for champagne cocktails. Mixed with fruit juice, it's the ideal party pop. For the price you could afford to buy a few bottles. Try it with Peach puree for delivious bellinis. Verdict: Price: pounds 9.99 Available: Lidl

Asda Vintage 2002 champagne In a blind test all testers thought this was an expensive branded champange rather than a supermarket brand. It's vintage, so it's of a higher quality, and you can tell. The bubbles are refined and almost melt on your tongue while the silky smooth finish is almost buttery, not at all acidic. For the price, this is a cracking bottle to bring in the New Year. Verdict: Price: pounds 18.98 Available: Asda

Blanc de noirs champagne The Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes blend well in this champers to make a really refreshing drink that has definite berry notes about it, making it perfect for the festive season. The bubbles were particularly long-lasting and were still fizzing as I got to the bottom of the glass. Really good value for a top-notch fizz. Verdict: Price: pounds 15 Available: Sainsbury's
