Mrs MOP; When it comes to chopping herbs, some gadgets are more cutting edge than others. Take a look at our sharpest choices.

Mezzaluna Favoured by Italian chefs (the name is Italian for "half moon"), this chopping blade is really easy to grip and simple to use. The curved chopping board grips the shape of the blade meaning your food doesn't fly everywhere. As well as being good for chopping herbs, it's also good for cutting up nuts. Good product.

Henckels Twin Select Mincing Knife This is a specialist product and one that should definitely be kept out of reach of kids. Its dual blades are razorsharp and make light work of anything. It's definitely one for serious home chefs. It's very efficient but I wasn't overly keen on the handle - I'd have liked two handles like the mezzaluna. Still a top piece of kit though.

OXO Good Grips' Herb Mincer This is easy to use, effective and the handle keeps your fingers a safe distance away from the roller blades. It works a bit like a pizza cutter with "wheels" on the underneath, slicing your herbs while you hold the soft-grip handle. Would be even better with a curved chopping board. Separates for safe cleaning. Love it. .

John Lewis Herb Mill I wasn't a fan of this one. The herbs had to be pushed down quite far into the basket for it to be effective, but I was afraid of cutting my fingers while I did this.

Also, it's a bit clunky and I think there's got to be a better design than this old-fashioned mill.

Verdict: ** Price: pounds 19.50 Available: John Lewis
