Mozart can help kids with autism; THERAPY.

Byline: By SENAN HOGAN

PLAYING Mozart to autistic children can rapidly boost their progress, a therapist claimed yesterday.

Karen O'Connor believes the lift music therapy programme, using Amadeus' symphonies, can accelerate development by up to three years in one month.

She has opened the first clinic in Dublin offering the treatment, which is also specifically designed to attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyspraxia.

Ms O'Connor said: "Certain music, in particular Mozart, has an effect on opening up the neuropathways - which are like highways to the part of the brain which allow us to attend, listen, absorb and express yourself."
